AIC works closely with Whitford, and has expertise in applying Whitford coatings to parts from industries including aerospace, chemical processing, food processing, automotive, mold release, oil & gas, and more.
Whitford Worldwide manufactures the largest, most complete line of fluoropolymer coatings in the world, including Xylan® and many other extreme performance coatings.
AIC is a certified Whitford Approved Quality Coater.
Xylan®
Xylan® Fluoropolymer Coatings are dry film lubricants that greatly improve the surface properties of most metals, plastics, ceramics, wood and castings. AIC applies Xylan to a wide range of industrial parts; examples include lead screws, fasteners, springs, semiconductor parts, heating elements, and many other parts needing a lubricated surface. The fluoropolymers available in the various Xylan® coatings include PTFE, PFA and FEP.
Xylan XLR®
Xylan XLR® is a revolutionary release coating from Whitford. Independent lab tests demonstrate that Xylan XLR maintains release properties up to 50 times longer than standard nonstick coatings, and more than 10 times longer than the second best.
In addition, Xylan XLR offers:
- Better resistance to permeation
- Improved hardness
- Better abrasion resistance
This is a two-coat, waterborne system with a super-high release topcoat and a lightly reinforced primer suitable for a variety of substrates including carbon steel.
Xylar®
Xylar® coatings are extremely-low VOC coatings that provide thin-film protection from corrosion, abrasion or extreme heat. If a lubricated surface isn’t required, Xylar coatings can be used alone; otherwise they are often top-coated with one of the lubricated Xylan coatings.
Xylar coatings are recommended for use in three major application areas:
- Protecting metal from oxidizing due to water in all forms: salt water, ice, steam, even subterranean condensation.
- Protecting metal from high-temperature oxidation up to 1000°F (540°C).
- Providing a sacrificial primer for any conventional air-spray lubricating coating.
Dykor®
Dykor® is a thick film dispersion that can be built up to thicknesses of 25 mils and more to protect metal from hostile enviroments. Originally designed for storage vessels, Dykor coatings can be suited to semiconductor, chemical and pharmaceutical applications thanks to a unique combination of properties:
- Unaffected by most chemicals and solvents
- Superb abrasion resistance and mechanical strength.
- High dielectric strength
- Excellent resistance to weathering, UV rays and nuclear radiation
Dykor topcoats can be made in nearly any color.
