PTFE, FEP, PFA, Xylan®, Glyde Coat, ETFE: Advanced Industrial Coatings provides expert application services for a broad range of brand-name and custom hydrophobic coatings.
AIC applies hydrophobic or non-wetting coatings for companies across a variety of industries: medical, food processing, chemical processing, semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, and more. Most high-performance hydrophobic coatings offer outstanding secondary properties such as nonstick, chemical and corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and pliability.
Key Hydrophobic Coatings Applied at AIC and Their Properties
PTFE-based coatings. PTFE coatings such as the DuPont Performance series and the Xylan® series by Whitford are the best-known hydrophobic coatings available today. Frequently used for chemical resistance applications, PTFE-based coatings also resist biofilm buildup, making them ideal for food processing and medical applications.
FEP and PFA. If you’re looking for a perfectly hydrophobic coating that has solid all-around functionality, it’s hard to do better than pure PFA or FEP. These coatings have such high surface tension that water falls right off. These dry film lubricants can be applied in thin films and offer similar properties to PTFE.
Xylan®. Because the Xylan series is PTFE-based, the coatings in this series will offer excellent hydrophobic properties. We often point out Xylan 1331, a PPS / PTFE blend that is designed to withstand serious wear, while delivering strong hydrophobic and nonstick properties.
Glyde Coat®. Glyde coat is a custom PTFE / powder blend created here at AIC to offer customers excellent hydrophobic, nonstick and wear properties while saving cost.
