AUTOMOTIVE COATING SERVICES FAQ
What coatings do you apply for automotive parts?
The most popular coatings are products containing PTFE. Coatings we apply include:
- The wide range of DuPont Performance Coatings
- Xylan®, produced by Whitford Worldwide
- Nylon, particularly Rilsan® Nylon from Arkema
- Epoxy, urethanes, and other basic powder coatings
We apply hundreds of brand-name coatings as well as custom blends. If you have a coating in mind, or a question about what coating to use, give us a call.
May we audit your facility?
Absolutely. We understand that ongoing quality audits are critical for automotive manufacturers. If you are a parts supplier for a major automotive manufacturer, we are happy to have both you and your client audit our facilities both prior to starting any job, and regularly during production.
How can we know if you can meet our production demand (now and in the future)?
Because of our experience with automotive clients, AIC regularly performs capacity analyses, and we can work with you to create custom capacity analysis reports for your parts. We can meet JIT or lean supply chain demands, thanks to our large production facility, automated production line and flexible operations. We regularly run large volumes on a flexible schedule within standard and even expedited turnaround times.
What kind of reporting and documentation can you provide?
AIC regularly provides process performance reports, capacity analyses, continual improvement and PFMEAs to all clients who require quality documentation. In addition, our quality control department is happy to provide the cusom documentation and process data required by your quality process. AIC also provides the necessary tracking and documentation for 100% product traceability.
Are you ISO certified?
Yes. AIC prides itself on achieving quality outcomes through standardized continuous improvement procedures. The certifications we have obtained and renew regularly include:
- ISO 9001:2008
- RoHS Certification
- Copy Exact
- Whitford Approved Quality Coater
- DuPont Certified StarCoater℠
Audits are conducted annually by internal management and by certified third party agencies to ensure ongoing compliance. We can send you a copy of our certifications for your records upon request.
Can we start talking even if the part isn’t built yet?
Yes. If you have a drawing that you can send us, we can start discussing coating options. After an initial discussion about your part and the substrate, we can send you coating samples so that you can have some actual, physical samples.
Will you coat my rims and/or other parts for my auto body shop?
Typically, our automotive clients are large-scale automotive manufacturers, and we may not be able to accomodate extremely small, single-part jobs in a cost-effective way. However, we’re always happy to talk to you about your part. If you believe you have a coating job that requires high scientific and technical expertise in coating applications, give us a call and we’ll talk.
