Kynar® PVDF Coating Services

What is Kynar® PVDF?

Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic known for its exceptional durability, chemical resistance, and weatherability. Used for more than 50 years in architectural coatings, Kynar® provides a long-lasting finish that resists UV degradation, corrosion, and color fading, making it a leading choice for industrial, architectural, and marine environments.

PropertyDetails
Chemical ResistanceExcellent resistance to acids, bases, halogens, hydrocarbons, alcohols, and oxidants. Suitable for harsh industrial environments.
UV & Weather ResistanceOutstanding resistance to sunlight and environmental exposure allowing minimal color change over decades.
Mechanical StrengthHigh tensile strength (5,000–8,000 psi) and impact resistance with low creep under stress.
Low PermeabilityProvides a reliable barrier against gases, fuels, and moisture.
ElectricalHigh dielectric strength (1.6 kV/mil) and excellent insulation properties.

Typical Applications

Kynar® PVDF’s unique balance of chemical, mechanical, and thermal properties makes it ideal for a wide range of applications:

  • Architecture & Building: Exterior metal panels, roofing, curtain walls, and facade coatings; long-lasting, anti-graffiti, and anti-grime finishes.
  • Industrial & Chemical Processing: Tanks, valves, pumps, fittings, heat exchangers, filtration systems, and chemical piping.
  • Transportation: Automotive fuel lines, tank trailer linings, battery binders, and EV battery coatings.
  • Electronics & Electrical: Cable jacketing, plenum and communication cables, wire insulation, and lithium-ion battery binders.
  • High Purity & Pharmaceutical: Semiconductor piping, process vessels, and pharmaceutical or medical equipment coatings.
  • Energy & Environmental: Photovoltaic backsheet films, water treatment membranes, and offshore fuel applications.
